Frequently Asked

Mounjaro — FAQs

What is Mounjaro and how does it work?
Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, a once-weekly injectable treatment used within a medically supervised weight-loss programme to support appetite regulation alongside diet and lifestyle changes. It is a prescription-only medicine, provided only after a clinical assessment and prescriber approval.
How do I start, and do I need a GP referral?
No GP referral is needed. You start with a free assessment — our clinical team reviews your goals and medical history, and a prescriber confirms whether treatment is suitable for you before anything is provided.
Which dose will I start on?
Treatment usually starts at the lowest strength (2.5 mg) and is increased gradually (titrated) over time under clinical supervision. The strengths and prices listed are the available pen doses, not a recommendation — your prescriber decides what is appropriate for you.
How is Mounjaro taken?
Mounjaro is a once-weekly subcutaneous (under-the-skin) injection given using a pre-filled pen. You'll be shown how to use it and given full guidance as part of your treatment.
What's the difference between Mounjaro and Wegovy?
Both are once-weekly injections used within supervised weight-loss programmes. Mounjaro contains tirzepatide, while Wegovy contains semaglutide. Which one is suitable for you is decided by your prescriber based on your assessment, goals and medical history.
Are there any side effects?
As with any medicine, side effects are possible — most commonly mild digestive effects such as nausea, especially when starting or increasing a dose. Potential side effects are discussed fully during your consultation so you can make an informed decision before starting.
Can I collect my treatment the same day?
Often, yes. Once your assessment is complete and a prescriber has approved your treatment, you can usually collect it the same day from our Central London clinic — with no waiting on delivery.
Who should not use Mounjaro?
Mounjaro is not suitable for everyone. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive, or have certain medical conditions, it may not be appropriate. Please share your full medical history at your assessment — your prescriber will confirm suitability.
Where is the clinic?
44 Crawford Street, London W1H 1JS — a short walk from Marylebone and Edgware Road stations. Assessments and pickup take place at our clinic.
