UTI Test
A laboratory urine test that identifies the bacteria most often behind urinary infections — 16 organisms, including E. coli, Klebsiella, Enterococcus and Proteus — and checks for key antibiotic-resistance markers.
Everything you need to know about UTI Test
Urinary infections in men are less common than in women but more likely to need looking into properly, and the usual “dip test” tells you only that something is going on, not what. This test uses molecular (PCR) detection to identify the specific organisms present — including E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterococcus faecalis, Proteus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus species and group B Streptococcus — and to flag resistance markers for methicillin, vancomycin and trimethoprim.
Knowing the organism and its likely resistance means any treatment can be targeted rather than guessed, which matters most for infections that keep coming back or have not cleared with a first course of antibiotics.
