About this test

Everything you need to know about STI Complete Screen

Many sexually transmitted infections cause no symptoms at all — chlamydia in particular is often silent in women and can affect fertility if left untreated — which is exactly why a routine screen is worth doing. The Complete Screen combines the sample types needed to cover the common infections properly: a blood sample for HIV, hepatitis B surface antigen, hepatitis C and syphilis, and a self-taken vaginal swab (or a urine sample) for chlamydia, gonorrhoea and related infections.

Everything is done in one private appointment at our Marylebone clinic by our clinical team — the swab is self-taken in private with simple instructions — and your results are explained to you confidentially. If anything needs treatment, we tell you what the next steps are.

Who it's for

Worth considering if

  • A new partner, or the end of a relationship, and wanting a clean baseline
  • A routine annual check for anyone sexually active
  • Possible exposure, or a partner who has tested positive
  • Symptoms such as unusual discharge, pain when passing urine, bleeding between periods or pelvic pain
Important: A blood test is not a diagnosis on its own. Where something needs looking at, we tell you what it means and what to do next. If you are unwell now, please see your GP or call 111 rather than waiting for a test.

Frequently Asked

STI Complete Screen — FAQs

How soon after possible exposure can I test?
It depends on the infection. Chlamydia and gonorrhoea can usually be detected from about two weeks; HIV and syphilis blood tests are most reliable from around four to six weeks, and hepatitis may take longer. Tell us the timing and we will advise whether to test now, later, or both.
Is the swab uncomfortable?
No — it is a simple self-taken vaginal swab, done in private in a couple of minutes with clear instructions. It is more reliable than urine for chlamydia and gonorrhoea in women, which is why we offer it first.
Is it confidential?
Yes. Your results are shared only with you, through your secure account, and discussed with you by our clinical team. Nothing is sent to your GP without your agreement.
What is the difference between this and the STI Blood Screen?
The Blood Screen covers HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and syphilis only — the infections detected in blood. The Complete Screen adds the swab or urine test for the bacterial infections, so it is the fuller check.
What happens if something is positive?
Our clinician explains the result and the treatment options, and where appropriate arranges or signposts treatment. Some infections need partner notification; we talk you through how that works.
Where is the test done?
44 Crawford Street, London W1H 1JS — a short walk from Marylebone and Edgware Road stations. Your sample is taken at the clinic by our clinical team; you do not need to bring anything.
How long does the appointment take?
About 15 minutes. If you have booked several tests they are all done in the same visit.
Can I book several tests at once?
Yes. Use “Add to booking” on each test and then “Book” in the bar at the bottom — they go into one appointment and one payment. Home test kits are ordered separately, because they are posted to you.
How do I pay, and can I cancel?
Pay online when you book — by card or bank transfer — or at the clinic where that option is offered. You can cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before your appointment for a full refund.
How do I get my results?
Results are released to your secure account and explained by our clinical team in a written summary, with a call where something needs talking through. Turnaround depends on the test: routine blood panels are quicker than genetic or DNA analysis, and we tell you what to expect at your appointment.
