UTI Test
A laboratory urine test that identifies the bacteria behind urinary infections — 16 organisms, including E. coli, Klebsiella, Enterococcus, Proteus and group B Strep — and checks for key antibiotic-resistance markers.
Everything you need to know about UTI Test
Half of all women have a urinary infection at some point, and for many it keeps coming back. The usual “dip test” tells you only that something is going on, not what — and repeated courses of guessed antibiotics are how resistance builds. This test uses molecular (PCR) detection to identify the specific organisms present — including E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterococcus faecalis, Proteus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus saprophyticus (a common cause in younger women) and group B Streptococcus — and to flag resistance markers for methicillin, vancomycin and trimethoprim.
Knowing the organism and its likely resistance means any treatment can be targeted rather than guessed, which matters most for infections that keep recurring, have not cleared with a first course of antibiotics, or arrive around the menopause.
