About this test

Everything you need to know about Weight Loss Journey

Losing weight — especially with medicines such as Mounjaro or Wegovy — changes a lot in the body at once, and the best outcomes come from keeping an eye on the numbers along the way. This panel brings together the markers that clinicians look at during a weight-loss programme: diabetes health (glucose, HbA1c), a full blood count, heart and cholesterol markers, kidney and liver function, pancreatic markers, thyroid, iron status, nutritional markers and female hormones, together with your personal measurements.

For women the hormone and iron markers earn their place: weight change can shift cycles, PCOS and thyroid problems often sit behind stubborn weight, and falling intake can tip borderline iron into deficiency. Taken at the start it gives you a baseline; repeated every few months it shows the changes you cannot see on the scales.

Who it's for

Worth considering if

  • Starting a GLP-1 medication such as Mounjaro or Wegovy
  • Three to six months into a programme and wanting to see what has changed
  • PCOS, thyroid problems or perimenopause alongside weight management
  • Rapid weight loss, where nutrition, iron and liver markers deserve a check
Important: A blood test is not a diagnosis on its own. Where something needs looking at, we tell you what it means and what to do next. If you are unwell now, please see your GP or call 111 rather than waiting for a test.

Frequently Asked

Weight Loss Journey — FAQs

Do I need to fast?
Some of the metabolic markers are more informative fasted, so we will tell you when you book whether to come in before breakfast. Drink water as normal.
Is this suitable if I am a Well MediCare weight-loss patient?
Yes — it was designed around exactly that. Your results sit alongside your treatment record, and our prescribers can take them into account at your next review.
How often should I repeat it?
A common pattern is a baseline before or soon after starting, then every three to six months while you are losing weight. Our clinical team suggests a schedule based on your results.
Does the timing of my cycle matter?
Only for the hormone markers. If you can, book in the first week of your cycle; if not, book whenever suits and tell us where you are in your cycle so the results are read correctly.
Where is the test done?
44 Crawford Street, London W1H 1JS — a short walk from Marylebone and Edgware Road stations. Your sample is taken at the clinic by our clinical team; you do not need to bring anything.
How long does the appointment take?
About 15 minutes. If you have booked several tests they are all done in the same visit.
Can I book several tests at once?
Yes. Use “Add to booking” on each test and then “Book” in the bar at the bottom — they go into one appointment and one payment. Home test kits are ordered separately, because they are posted to you.
How do I pay, and can I cancel?
Pay online when you book — by card or bank transfer — or at the clinic where that option is offered. You can cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before your appointment for a full refund.
How do I get my results?
Results are released to your secure account and explained by our clinical team in a written summary, with a call where something needs talking through. Turnaround depends on the test: routine blood panels are quicker than genetic or DNA analysis, and we tell you what to expect at your appointment.
