About this test

Everything you need to know about Hormone Health

Your reproductive hormones work as a system. FSH and LH from the pituitary gland drive the ovaries; the ovaries respond with oestradiol and, after ovulation, progesterone. Prolactin, testosterone and SHBG can all disturb that rhythm when they are out of balance. Irregular or heavy periods, difficulty conceiving, acne, hair changes, low libido and hot flushes often trace back to one of them.

This kit measures all eight together, so the pattern is visible: a high FSH may point to the ovaries winding down, raised LH and androgens towards PCOS, a raised prolactin towards the pituitary. Our clinical team explains your results in the context of your cycle and symptoms and suggests the next step where something stands out.

Who it's for

Worth considering if

  • Irregular, heavy, painful or absent periods
  • Trying to conceive, or thinking about it
  • Acne, excess hair growth or thinning hair
  • Symptoms that could be perimenopause, such as hot flushes or changes to your cycle
Important: A home test is not a diagnosis on its own. Where something needs looking at, we tell you what it means and what to do next. If you are unwell now, please see your GP or call 111 rather than waiting for a kit.

Frequently Asked

Hormone Health — FAQs

When in my cycle should I collect?
If you have regular periods, collect on days 2–5 (day 1 is the first day of bleeding) — the most useful time for FSH, LH and oestradiol. At that point progesterone simply confirms where you are in your cycle; checking ovulation needs a progesterone sample about 7 days before your next period. If your periods are irregular or absent, collect on any day and tell us the date of your last period.
Does hormonal contraception or HRT affect the results?
Yes. The pill, implant, injection, hormonal coil and HRT can all change these hormones, so the results reflect your treatment rather than your natural cycle. Tell us what you use so our clinician can interpret the results correctly.
Can this tell me about my fertility?
It shows whether your hormones support regular ovulation and can point to conditions that affect fertility, such as PCOS. It does not measure egg reserve (AMH) — our clinic fertility tests include that if it is what you want to know.
Can this tell me if I am in the menopause?
It can support the picture, but for women over 45 with typical symptoms the menopause is usually diagnosed from symptoms alone, because hormone levels swing a lot during perimenopause. The results are most useful for ruling out other causes, such as a thyroid problem.
How does the kit reach me?
We post it to your address anywhere in the UK as soon as your order is paid, and email you when it has been dispatched. Delivery is free on every home blood test kit. Everything you need to collect your sample and send it back is in the box.
How do I collect the sample?
Your kit contains everything you need and step-by-step instructions. Read them through first, collect at the time of day this test needs (see the preparation note above), label the sample and pack it in the return packaging provided.
When should I post my sample back?
On the day you collect it, Monday to Thursday, and not the day before a bank holiday — so it reaches the laboratory quickly and does not sit in the post over a weekend. A sample that arrives too old may not be able to be analysed.
Can I order several kits at once?
Yes. Use “Add to order” on each kit and then “Order” in the bar at the bottom — they go into one order and one payment and are posted together. Clinic blood tests are booked separately, because they need an appointment rather than an address.
How do I pay?
Home kit orders are paid by bank transfer. When you place your order we show our bank details and your payment reference on screen and by email, and we post your kit as soon as the payment reaches us.
How do I get my results?
Once the laboratory has analysed your sample, your results are released to your secure account with a written explanation from our clinical team, and a call where something needs talking through. Turnaround depends on the test and starts when the laboratory receives your sample.
